Autobell Car Wash Prices, Unlimited Plans & Review

Autobell Car Wash building with prices and unlimited plans title.

Autobell car wash prices run about $45 to $60 for a full-service wash and $34.99 to $125.99 a month for an unlimited plan. Those are the prices Autobell’s own site showed for its Newport News, Virginia store, and other locations can differ. Autobell is full-service: staff vacuum, wipe down, and clean the windows inside, then hand-dry the outside.

So comparing Autobell with an express tunnel on price alone misses the point. Autobell is a family-owned chain founded in Charlotte in 1969, with 89 locations in five states, most of them in North Carolina.

  • A Full Service Wash costs $44.99, with Super Polyprocess at $54.99 and the Rain Repellent Special at $59.99.
  • Five unlimited plans run from $34.99 (exterior) to $125.99 a month (full-service with every extra).
  • Most plans pay off at three washes a month. Full Service Unlimited pays off at two.
  • Each plan covers one vehicle, and there’s no family discount.

Autobell Single Wash Prices

An Autobell Full Service Wash costs $44.99 at the Newport News store, with two upgrades above it. Prices load on Autobell’s wash menu only after you pick a store, so check yours.

WashPriceWhat You Get
Full Service Wash$44.99Exterior wash, hand-dry, interior vacuum, dash and console wipe, inside windows
Super Polyprocess Wash$54.99Full service plus extra polish and protectant
Rain Repellent Special$59.99The top wash, adding a rain-repellent coat

Prices vary by location.

Exterior-only washes cost less and are sold at the store, typically about $14 to $30 depending on the package. Larger vehicles, like 15-passenger vans, can carry a surcharge.

Autobell Unlimited Plan Prices

Autobell unlimited plans cost $34.99 to $125.99 a month at the Newport News store. The three cheaper plans are exterior-only. Full Service Unlimited adds the interior work, and Super Unlimited adds an underbody wash, Double Polyprocess, AUTOGLOSS, tire gloss, and a fragrance.

Prices vary by location.

You buy and manage plans in the Autobell App, and the store prices fill in on the unlimited plans page once you pick a location. Each plan is tied to one vehicle, so a two-car home needs two plans.

Is the Autobell Unlimited Plan Worth It?

Full Service Unlimited is the one Autobell plan that pays off at two washes a month. At $89.99, it costs about the same as two $44.99 full-service washes, and every visit after that is free. Wash weekly and each full-service clean costs you about $22.50.

The exterior plans need about three washes to beat paying per visit. Super Unlimited is the hardest to justify. It costs $36 a month more than Full Service Unlimited for protectants that a hand wax twice a year would mostly cover.

If you’d use Autobell for the interior work, Full Service Unlimited is the plan to buy, and only if you’ll go at least twice a month. Otherwise pay per wash.

Full Service vs Express

Autobell’s full-service wash cleans the inside of your car. Staff vacuum the seats, mats, and cargo area, wipe the dashboard, console, and door panels, and clean the windows inside and out. An express tunnel skips all of that.

Autobell also hand-dries the outside with towels instead of only air blowers, which cuts down on water spots, and runs robotic wheel cleaning on every wash. No appointment is needed. In the Northeast, Splash offers a similar full-service menu, with Splash Unlimited plans from $23.99 a month.

If you’d rather do the inside yourself, matching the cleaner to each interior surface is where most people go wrong.

Tipping is separate and optional. It isn’t built into the wash price.

Why Autobell Quality Varies by Location

Autobell’s biggest weakness is inconsistency. Some drivers praise thorough work and friendly crews. Others drive off with a window left down or the back seat still dirty.

Autobell isn’t a franchise, so that’s not the reason. It’s company-run and family-owned, with more than 3,000 staff. Full service is labor-heavy, so the result comes down to the crew on shift and how well that store trains them.

Inspect the car before you leave the lot. If something was missed, point it out on the spot and ask the crew to fix it.

Damage Risk and Claims

Autobell runs a soft-touch tunnel before the hand-dry, so cloth touches the paint. Fine scratches come from grit already on a very dirty car being dragged across the clear coat. If your car has dark or freshly polished paint, hand-washing a dark car is the safer option.

Autobell’s BBB complaint file includes disputed claims over broken trim, cracked windshields, and snapped antennas, many of them denied. Retract your antenna, remove loose items, and photograph the car before you hand it over.

Autobell Add-Ons, Gifts, and Passes

Autobell sells add-ons that stack onto any wash, such as tire gloss, AUTOGLOSS, mat cleaning, and the Master AutoVac, a deeper vacuum that gets between the seats and pulls pet hair. The Master AutoVac is the one worth paying for, because a standard pass misses those spots.

For people who don’t want a monthly plan, Autobell also sells gift cards and passes, including annual passes and wash ticket books.

Where Autobell Operates

Autobell lists 89 locations on its store locator: 54 in North Carolina, 17 in Virginia, 13 in South Carolina, 4 in Maryland, and 1 in Delaware. It’s a regional chain, so a plan only helps if a store is on your routes.

Every Autobell location treats and recycles up to 100% of its wash water and uses biodegradable soaps, according to the company’s store pages.

Canceling an Autobell Unlimited Plan

Autobell unlimited plans renew automatically every month until you cancel, and they’re managed in the Autobell App. Cancel before your next billing date to avoid another charge. How to cancel Autobell covers each step and what to do if charges continue.

Who Autobell Is For

Use Autobell when you want the inside and outside done in one stop and you’re willing to check the work before you drive off. At a store with a good crew, it’s a thorough wash, and the hand-dry beats what express tunnels leave behind.

Skip it if you only want a fast exterior. A Mister Car Wash plan or another express chain costs far less for that. And if your local store has already denied you a damage claim, take your business elsewhere.
